Orthodontics in HALDENT.
What is Spark™?
Spark™ orthodontic treatment is based on transparent aligners that gradually move teeth into the correct position. It is an innovative alternative to traditional braces, ideal for those who value discretion and comfort. The system was developed by Ormco, a global leader in orthodontics. Thanks to their design, treatment is faster, comfortable, and virtually invisible. We invite you to orthodontic consultations with Dr. Agnieszka Trzepatowska.
How does Spark™ aligner treatment work?
1. Orthodontic Consultation
During the first visit, the orthodontist:
Conducts a detailed interview and examination.
Performs a comprehensive diagnosis, including radiographs, photographic images, and intraoral scans.
Presents possible treatment options and discusses the expected results.
2. Treatment Plan Discussion and 3D Visualization
Based on the dental scan, a 3D visualization is created to show the predicted outcomes of the treatment.
The patient can see the exact sequence of tooth movements and approve the treatment plan.
3. Receiving the Spark™ Aligner Set
During this visit, attachments are bonded to the teeth. These are special brackets made of composite material that matches the color of the teeth. Attachments help facilitate the planned tooth movements.
The patient then receives a set of custom-fitted aligners.
At the end of the visit, a detailed instruction session is provided. The instructions cover wearing the aligners for 22 hours a day, removing them during meals, and maintaining good oral hygiene.
4. Wearing and Using Spark™ Aligners
After removing the aligners from the case, rinse them with water.
Wear the aligners according to the orthodontist’s instructions.
Each aligner should be worn for 1 to 2 weeks, as recommended by the treating orthodontist.
If, for any reason, an aligner no longer fits, immediately contact your orthodontist.
Do not discard previously used aligners.
Always put on and remove the aligners using clean, freshly washed hands.
Regular follow-up with the orthodontist is done remotely using the Dental Monitoring system.
5. Placing the Aligners
Each aligner has its own number (U- for upper teeth; L- for lower teeth; followed by the treatment stage number, e.g., U3).
The caps are put on one at a time, one at a time. First, the caps need to be slid onto the front teeth, and then pushed onto the tops of the back teeth.
To avoid damaging the aligners, do not bite down on them to position them.
6. Removing Aligners
On one side of the mouth, use your fingertip to gently detach the aligner from the tooth, starting from the back on the inner side of the molar.
Repeat the process from step 1 on the other side of the mouth.
Once the aligner is released from the molars on both sides, gently begin to gradually detach it toward the front teeth.
7. Tips for Removing the Aligners
After removing the aligners, rinse them with water, shake off any excess water, and store them in the case.
Do not apply excessive force that could cause twisting or bending of the aligner while removing it. Be careful to avoid stretching or breaking the aligner.
Do not use sharp objects to remove the aligners.
If you experience significant difficulty removing the aligners, consult the treating orthodontist for advice.
8. Using and Cleaning the Aligners
The aligners should be cleaned before each use with a soft-bristled toothbrush, moistened with water and a small amount of toothpaste, and then rinsed thoroughly with water. If necessary, the outer surfaces of the aligners worn on the teeth can be cleaned, and after removing them, clean the inner surfaces.
Do not use denture cleaning products to clean the aligners. Do not soak the aligners in mouthwash, and avoid using hot water, alcohol, or bleaching solutions, as these can damage the surface of the aligners, causing them to become cloudy and lose their transparency.
9. Daily Oral Hygiene
The aligners must be removed during meals.
The aligners must be removed when drinking any beverages, except cold water.
After each meal, teeth must be cleaned before reattaching the aligners.
To maintain healthy teeth and gums, regular check-ups and cleanings are recommended.
10. Storing the Aligners
Each aligner should be stored in its original case or according to the instructions of the treating orthodontist.
Unused aligners should be stored in the original case to maintain cleanliness.
If the current aligner is lost or damaged, the treating orthodontist may advise temporarily returning to the previous aligner.
Store the aligners in a place that is out of reach of small children and pets.
11. Contraindications
If the patient has active periodontal disease, the use of Clear Aligner aligners should be avoided or their use postponed until the symptoms of active periodontal disease have subsided.
12. Monitoring and Completion of Treatment
At the end of the treatment, a detailed evaluation of the results is conducted.
Depending on the treatment package, the patient has the option to make corrections up to 5 years after the treatment is completed.
Why choose Spark™ aligners?
What makes Spark™ aligners stand out?
TruGEN™ Material: Provides exceptional transparency, minimizing the visibility of the aligners.
Stain Resistance: Spark™ aligners are less prone to yellowing compared to traditional aligners.
Precise Fit: Each aligner is individually polished to ensure maximum comfort while wearing.
Safety and Comfort Spark™ does not cause irritation or damage to the gums, unlike traditional braces.
What bite issues can be treated with Spark™?
Spark™ aligners can correct bite issues such as: crossbite, open bite, deep bite, overbite, underbite, as well as crowding of teeth and gaps between them. Patients with active periodontal disease should wait until the symptoms subside before starting treatment. The decision to begin therapy is made by the orthodontist after conducting an examination and consultation.
Attachments – What are they and why are they so popular?
Attachments, also known as buttons or anchors, are small protrusions placed on certain teeth. They help to more precisely direct the tooth movements. Attachments ensure that the aligners exert the appropriate amount of force on the teeth, making the treatment more effective.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Are Spark™ aligners suitable for children?
Yes, but their use depends on the child's age and the type of bite issue. Our orthodontist will assess whether Spark™ is the best solution for your child.
How long does treatment with aligners take?
Treatment time depends on the severity of the issue, but it usually lasts from a few months to about 1.5 years—shorter than traditional braces.
How should Spark™ aligners be cared for?
Aligners should be cleaned with water and special cleaning solutions to prevent buildup. It is recommended to store them in a dedicated case.
Can the results of treatment be improved after it’s finished?
Yes! Depending on the selected package, patients can make free adjustments for up to 5 years after the treatment.
